In {{ s.monthYearLabel }}, I taught an online financial-literacy class through Zaila Collection for {{ s.attendanceProse }} Syrian refugee women in Turkey. An Arabic interpreter was present for the {{ s.teachingMinutes }}-minute session. I was a sophomore at the time.
The group gathered together in a garment workspace, with the online presentation projected in the room. The class introduced money concepts and included credit, debt, credit scores, and interest.
Teaching across language and setting
Arabic interpretation was part of this session. For future classes, I want the planning to give equal attention to the financial ideas, the language used to explain them, and examples that fit the local setting.
What this class delivered
{{ s.attendanceLabel }} women took part in an hour and a half of introductory financial education delivered online with Arabic interpretation. The photographs and presentation images document the group setting and parts of the lesson.
